These works were part of group exhibitions curated by Carol Lee, Karen Bradtke of artSPACE durban, Lindsay Davies (Wildlands Trust Art for Conservation) and Gallery 2 JHB.

A theme dominating the works is the presence of "civilisation". The unavoidable encroachment into our visual surrounds started appearing in Kotze's work in 2007 with street lamps, cars, telephone cables, buildings and roads dominating many of her paintings.

Embracing their existence offers additional emotional and technical elements into play.
